Now that all the trailers for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have been released, players have a much better idea of if their favorite characters will be making a return. As the crew of the Stinger Mantis set off on their next adventure, there will be plenty of familiar faces from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order alongside new characters. Some returning characters will be obvious, but others might be a little more surprising.
When Star Wars Jedi: Survivor arrives on April 28, 2023, players will get to rejoin Cal as he explores vast new planets in his battle with the Empire. As set up in the tie-in novel Jedi: Battle Scars, the crew have gone their separate ways, but as the trailers have shown, that separation might be temporary. Cal has new allies, such as companion Bode Akuna, but is also set to be joined by some older friends and even face some enemies from Jedi: Fallen Order.
6 Cal Kestis It is no surprise that Cal Kestis is returning for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. As the protagonist of the Star Wars Jedi series, Respawn Entertainment has hinted it intends Cal’s journey to be a trilogy. Jedi: Fallen Order wonderfully set up the beginning of Cal’s story so far from traumatized Padawan to rediscovering his connection to the Force.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the continuation of Cal’s saga, moving the action on five years for a game that looks set to be darker in tone. Cal appears to be working with new allies and actively fighting the Empire in his personal quest for vengeance. Cal looks set to reunite with the crew of the Mantis throughout Jedi: Survivor as they tackle new challenges and enemies together.
5 BD-1 There is no Cal without his faithful companion BD-1. The cute little droid made his Star Wars debut in Jedi: Fallen Order, and players fell in love with the tiny guy. BD previously accompanied Jedi Master Eno Cordova on his expeditions before sacrificing his memories in order to preserve Cordova's messages.
Just as in Jedi: Fallen Order, BD will be helping Cal traverse and explore his environment in Jedi: Survivor. In addition to BD’s aid in the form of stim packs, holoprojector, and hacking abilities, BD appears to have been given an upgrade. The last gameplay trailer shows BD using thrusters, although it is unclear whether he will be able to use them to help Cal in a similar way to his zipline function.
4 Cere Junda Cal’s mentor and Jedi Knight Cere Junda is returning for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, having been featured in almost all the trailers. In Jedi: Fallen Order, Cere had cut herself off from the Force after briefly falling to the dark side. It was through her relationship with Cal and their shared goal that she was able to reconnect, although it remains to be seen if they still share viewpoints in Jedi: Survivor.
The tie-in novel Battle Scars saw Cere still struggling with her history with the dark side. In a fight with the Fifth Brother, rather than disable or defeat him, she attempts to redeem him and bring him back to the side. Trailers for Jedi: Survivor have shown her in an archive-like place, sporting tattoos showing visually one of the biggest character changes from Jedi: Fallen Order.
3 Greez Dritus Also returning in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is Cere’s friend and captain of the Stinger Mantis Greez Dritus. The Latero was the crew's getaway driver on missions and often cooked for his found family. It was Greez's gambling debts that caused the crime syndicate, the Haxion Brood, to capture Cal and continue to bother Greez and the others during the events of Battle Scars.
It was during Sam Magg's novel that Greez was badly injured, losing an arm to the Fifth Brother as Greez attempted to save Cal. Greez initially attempted to use humor to dismiss the loss of his limb but eventually acknowledged his injury. One of the early missions of Jedi: Survivor sees Cal setting off to find Greez in his new cantina on Koboh.
2 Merrin The sole survivor of General Grievous' massacre of the Nightsisters, Merrin was one of the most interesting characters in Jedi: Fallen Order. Living on Dathomir, she encountered Cal and initially attacked him after believing the lies from fallen Jedi Taron Malicos. However, Cal was able to convince Merrin that what she had been told of the Jedi wasn't true and aided Cal in his duel with Malicos.
Merrin joined the crew and, after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order, struggled with her Nightsister magick. Merrin also had a brief romance with an Imperial deserter, which helped clarify her connection to her "fire," as it's referred to in trailers. It appears that in Jedi: Survivor, as with the other members of the crew, Merrin has gone on a separate path, although it is clear from the trailers that she and Cal still share a strong bond.
1 The Ninth Sister Finally, alongside friends, Cal will be joined in Jedi: Survivor by old enemies too. The Ninth Sister first appeared in the Darth Vader comic before making the leap to games with Jedi: Fallen Order. She is an imposing Dowutin, and Cal's battle with her on Kashyyk is one of the more difficult in the game.
