Star Wars just revealed that one of Darth Vader’s Inquisitors fought in the First Battle of Geonosis. While the Inquisitors made their first appearance in Star Wars Rebels, the Star Wars canon has since explored their origins in other points of the saga’s timeline. Star Wars’ Imperial Inquisitors were once Jedi, meaning that each one of them eventually entered a dark path that led them to Darth Vader and the Emperor.
The official Star Wars website has shared the first excerpt of Delilah S. Dawson’s Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade, revealing that Iskat Akaris, who eventually becomes an Inquisitor, was in Geonosis during Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.
Iskat Akaris has spent much of her time as a Padawan traveling the galaxy with her Master Sember Vey, collecting artifacts and lost knowledge for the Jedi Archives. But after being recalled to the Jedi Temple, Iskat and her master are sent on a rescue mission. One that will change the futures of the Jedi Order, the Republic, and Iskat herself.
The rescue mission in question was saving Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Padmé Amidala from the Separatist Alliance in Geonosis. The full excerpt details Iskat Akaris’ arrival at Geonosis’ Battle Arena, noting how the Jedi had now become soldiers. “This wasn’t just a rescue mission — it was a military operation,” narrates the novel. Iskat Akaris debuted as an Inquisitor in Darth Vader (2017) #19 by Charles Soule and Giuseppe Camuncoli.
Palpatine Used The Clone Wars To Break The Jedi At the beginning of Attack of the Clones, Mace Windu claims that the Jedi are “protectors of the peace, not soldiers.” By the end of the Clone Wars, making that distinction was extremely difficult. The Grand Army of the Republic, which debuted in Geonosis, was formed by clone troopers. Even still, the Jedi became soldiers during the Clone Wars – generals, more specifically.
Suddenly, the Jedi were no longer being sent to mediate negotiations or solve mysteries across the galaxy. Instead, the Jedi were now leading clone battalions into war. Palpatine orchestrated the Clone Wars and played the conflict on both sides. Chancellor Palpatine guided the Republic into the conflict, whereas Darth Sidious controlled Count Dooku and the Separatists from the shadows.
