Warning! This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade #3Despite the fact that Jedi are some of the most powerful warriors in the Star Wars universe–believed to be matched only by the might of the Sith–one story reveals that a solo Jedi is much more vulnerable than one would assume, which confirms why they need an Order to survive, and truly thrive, in the galaxy.
When Star Wars fans were introduced to the idea of a Jedi in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the Order itself had long-since fallen, and the few Jedi who remained were scattered and hiding across the galaxy for their own safety. However, skip backwards roughly two decades and the Jedi Order was thriving in the galaxy, temporarily acting as something of a galaxy-wide police force in light of the Separatist movement, which led directly into the Clone Wars. During the Clone Wars, many Jedi fell in battle even while fighting against something as comparatively weak as droid soldiers. However, where the Jedi usually found success in battle wasn’t from their individual power, but their collective strength within the Jedi Order. If a Jedi was killed in battle, another would take their place in a nearly endless cycle that would result in the Jedi’s eventual victory (which is why Order 66 was necessary in their downfall).
