A new rumor suggests Star Wars may soon reveal how powerful a Jedi could be without the use of their lightsaber. Releasing later this year, the upcoming Ahsoka TV show will feature the titular former Jedi joining forces with Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren from Star Wars Rebels to finally find Ezra Bridger, the Jedi of the Rebel Alliance who went missing before the events of the original trilogy. As such, Ezra may have developed new abilities during his time away and without his lightsaber, the traditional and elegant weapon of the Jedi for a more civilized age.
According to a rumor from Making Star Wars, Ezra Bridger will have developed a new form of martial arts in conjunction with his Force abilities. Having given his green lightsaber to Sabine before he and the Empire's Grand Admiral Thrawn disappeared into the Unknown Regions, it seems Ezra might have come up with a means to protect himself sans saber:
Ezra Bridger on the other hand, has been in a strange land for years without his lightsaber. Apparently, a Kyber crystal has not called out to him in all that time because he has developed his own martial arts based Force powers, not unlike Teras Kasi (but I’m assuming it is his own style). This martial arts style coupled with his connection to animals makes him an interesting take on a Force user on screen as he uses his hands, feet, the Force and nature to beat up undead Stormtroopers.
While the rumor claims Sabine will effectively wield Ezra's lightsaber (while not caring to elaborate about "undead Stormtroopers"), the true excitement comes from Ezra having become a capable fighter without his weapon, potentially revealing brand-new methods for using the Force.
