Louis Leterrier, best known for Now You See Me and Fast X, has revealed amusing details about his Star Wars pitches. Back in 2017, ahead of the launch of the Disney+ streaming service, Lucasfilm welcomed pitches for various Star Wars TV shows. Jon Favreau's idea was undoubtedly the most successful, evolving into The Mandalorian, but he was far from the only one with the idea of a lone wolf and Force-sensitive cub.
Speaking to Josh Horowitz during a live commentary on The Incredible Hulk, Louis Leterrier revealed he too made pitches to Lucasfilm.
"I had my dream Star Wars idea a long time ago, when I came to them and pitched it: ‘We should do a Star Wars TV show conceived as a lone wolf and cub’. And they said ‘Uh, we don’t know if that’s a great idea’. It was two things. I wanted to do the missing part between… Basically before A New Hope when Obi-Wan takes Luke. I wanted to do that. But I was also very interested in the Boba Fett movie."
Leterrier's comment is a little unclear, but it sounds as though he wanted to do a "lone wolf and cub" show focused on Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker. Instead, of course, the wolf-and-cub dynamic became central to The Mandalorian, and the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ TV show avoided a focus on Obi-Wan and Luke to instead surprise viewers by teaming the Jedi Master with a young Leia Organa.
