Summary
- Star Wars introduces the possibility that familiar species like Zabrak may actually be from different galaxies, expanding the lore beyond the main galaxy.
- The Evereni, a new species introduced in the High Republic era, originated from a mysterious planet and may not be from the main Star Wars galaxy.
- Supreme Leader Snoke's Attendants, described as an insectoid species, could have a connection to the planet Peridea and the purrgil, suggesting an extragalactic origin.
The first season of Ahsoka introduced a new galaxy to Star Wars, revealing that the Dathomiri are originally from that galaxy in the process. But could there be more Star Wars species viewers are already familiar with that are not originally from the main galaxy? There are countless mysterious species in the Star Wars galaxy whose origins are completely unknown, but there may also be species that are comprehensively described in the lore who may have more to be revealed, like the Dathomiri.
Ahsoka was full of galaxy-shaking lore reveals, but one that causes much interest is that the planet Peridea, the location visited in the new galaxy, is incredibly ancient. It is intrinsically tied to the main Star Wars galaxy because of this ancient nature and the magical star whale purrgil, suggesting many things could've originated there, with the Nightsisters and The Ones (the Father, Daughter, and Son) from Star Wars: The Clone Wars being prime candidates. Here are six pre-established Star Wars species that could actually be from different galaxies.

They are a horned humanoid species from the planet Iridonia, and the previously mentioned Dathomiri or Dathomirians are a subspecies of the Zabrak. They were expanded upon by The Clone Wars, which tied the Nightsisters to the Dathomirians, but this was just the beginning. Ahsoka introduced the fact that the Dathomirians are actually from the new galaxy's Peridea. This idea that a subspecies is from a different galaxy implies that the entire race could be from there as well. The other option is that the Nightsister culture is what originated from Peridea, not the genetic species, but that doesn't seem to be what's hinted in Ahsoka. If this is true, then it's possible fans saw their first glimpse at the new galaxy over 20 years ago.
5 The Evereni The High Republic has been a constant on bookshelves since early 2021, exploring the High Republic Era before The Phantom Menace. The main villain of the series of books and comics is Marchion Ro, the threatening leader of the Outer Rim raider group known as the Nihil. Marchion is part of a new species for the series, known as the Evereni. The Evereni are a group that originated from the mysterious planet Everon, which is consumed by its native storms, causing its citizens to take to the stars. They would eventually reach others in the galaxy, where they became feared – but if they originated in the main Star Wars galaxy is never clarified. The Evereni shockingly different and scary, and are exceedingly rare in the galaxy, leading to a possibility that they originate from elsewhere.
4 Supreme Leader Snoke's Attendants Only appearing very briefly in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Attendants, as they are known, aid Supreme Leader Snoke. The one place they're seen is standing in Snoke's throne room, but The Last Jedi's novelization expands upon them as navigators used to get around the very hazardous Unknown Regions. They also appear alongside the mysterious Grysk in the newer Thrawn: Ascendancy trilogy of novels; but it's their description in The Last Jedi's visual dictionary that leads to an extragalactic conclusion. They are said to be an insectoid species, much like the Noti seen on Peridea in Ahsoka, and they apparently blazed ancient hyperspace trails. This could absolutely be some sort of connection to Peridea, or the purrgil. Perhaps they were distant relatives of the Noti that were able to ride the purrgil to the main galaxy and study hyperspace.
