Taika Waititi has provided an update on his upcoming Star Wars movie, insisting he's not rushing it. Lucasfilm announced three upcoming Star Wars movies at Star Wars Celebration 2023, but surprisingly they didn't give an initial update on Taika Waititi's mysterious project. Since then, though, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed Waititi is still working on the script, although naturally progress was disrupted by the recent writers' strikes.
Speaking to ETOnline, Waititi has reassured viewers his movie is still in the works – at least right now. "At the moment, I'm still developing something with them," he confirmed. "Like me, they have a lot of projects going on. I think they're gonna push it until I finish these other projects. I've got about four other scripts that I'm trying to finish. My thing is I want to take my time with that and get it right. I don't want to rush this movie." It's worth noting that Waititi doesn't seem overly confident, because his comment seems to hint things can change. Still, for now, Lucasfilm is clearly allowing him to continue working at his own pace.
