Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin has quickly become one of Star Wars' biggest characters, but The Mandalorian has yet to reveal much of his backstory. As the titular character of Star Wars' very first live-action Disney+ TV show, Din is not just one of the most popular Star Wars characters in this newer era, but also of all time – along with his beloved companion, Grogu. Mando has had the most appearances across the entirety of the New Republic Era, which includes The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, despite him not appearing in the latter.
Despite all of this, much of Din's backstory still remains a mystery. While a few details have been revealed, none have been explored in much depth, even as of The Mandalorian season 3 being complete. With The Mandalorian season 4 on its way to create new opportunities to learn more about Din Djarin, here are eight things about Mando's past that have already been revealed – and eight questions they still leave unanswered.

This isn't information that can be gathered from the show, though; the planet's name is only mentioned in the 2020 source book The Star Wars Book. Din has yet to say the name of his home, likely due to his own trauma and his appreciation for the home he made with the Mandalorians, and thus much about his original home remains unknown. How long did he live there before the Mandalorians took him in, and where in the galaxy is Aq Vetina?
7 Battle Droids Killed His Parents & Nearly Killed Him Season 1, Episode 3 "Chapter 3: The Sin" Din's distaste for droids is one of the first things viewers learn about him in The Mandalorian, with his third line of dialogue ever being "No droids." Flashbacks throughout The Mandalorian season 1 confirm that Din has a reason for feeling so strongly about droids, as they were the ones who attacked his home village and killed his parents. They would have killed him, too, if it wasn't for those who saved him. It's assumed that this occurred during the Clone Wars at the hands of the Separatists, but Din mentions in The Mandalorian season 3 that he's seen battle droids after the war concluded. This poses the question, then, of when this attack took place, and why.
