As the first live-action Star Wars Disney+ TV show, The Mandalorian season 1 had plenty of Easter eggs – but there's one that seemingly hints at the full gravity of Grand Admiral Thrawn's future attack. Much of the work the story of The Mandalorian season 1 does sets up the New Republic Era, setting the stage for all the spin-offs and other stories it paved the way for. From Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin calling the New Republic a "joke" to the galactic government's hands-off way of dealing with prisoners, The Mandalorian season 1 made it obvious early on that the New Republic would be more than susceptible to falling at the hands of the First Order.
Now, The Mandalorian spin-off series Ahsoka has introduced Lars Mikkelsen's Grand Admiral Thrawn to the galaxy once again, with the Star Wars TV show ending on Thrawn's return home from a neighboring galaxy. The possibility for this story to be told stems all the way from The Mandalorian season 1, but as it turns out, the first live-action Star Wars series actually had more ties to Thrawn than previously thought. There's one Easter egg that hints directly to the future of the New Republic, and it's more than likely that Thrawn has something to do with it.

The Mandalorian season 1, episode 6 "Chapter 6: The Prisoner" features Din's first true encounter with the New Republic, and in doing so, it surrounded him with security droids who all bore the emblem of the galaxy's new government. Rather than representing the canon New Republic logo, these droids were designated with the New Republic logo that's featured in Legends. While this could easily be dismissed as a simple mistake, Star Wars has continued to use this logo throughout The Mandalorian and other spin-off series, pointing towards this logo having a deeper meaning to the future of the galaxy. It's more than a simple callback to the Legends stories many viewers love; This is a change that's meant to foreshadow the trials the New Republic still has to face.
