One of Star Wars: The High Republic’s brightest young Jedi shines in new Star Wars art ahead of her live-action debut. The High Republic chronicles the Jedi’s trials and tribulations, beginning roughly 200 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. As such, the transmedia publishing initiative has introduced audiences to a whole host of new Jedi characters, many of whom wield interestingly designed lightsabers and can use fascinatingly rare Force powers. One such Jedi is the Mirialan Vernestra Rwoh, who was knighted at the age of 15, becoming one of the youngest Jedi to hold that rank in the Order’s history.
A new piece of The High Republic fan art was posted to Twitter (X) by artist Goherus (@5healthMONO) and depicts Vernestra with her incredibly unique purple lightsaber, which can switch between being an ordinary single-bladed weapon and a rare lightwhip of her own design.
Vernestra modified her lightsaber after the idea came to her in a dream. While a lightwhip’s strike may produce a less powerful cut than a traditional lightsaber blade, lightwhips were believed to be an effective counter against the Sith’s forbidden lightsaber forms – a fact which may come in handy during Vernestra Rwoh’s live-action debut.
