One of the biggest mysteries in Ahsoka is what Baylan Skoll’s true goal is in abandoning Thrawn, but his connection to the Jedi may help explain what he’s thinking. Rather than masquerade as Thrawn’s ally, Ray Stevenson’s Baylan chooses to seek out the Mortis gods hidden on Peridea at the end of the Ahsoka finale. These ancient gods are some of Star Wars’ most powerful beings. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the Mortis gods were presented as the ones who controlled the flow of the Force. And if Baylan has found their dwelling on Peridea, then he may be able to change the very shape of the Force.
Thus far, Baylan Skoll’s plan in Ahsoka has been increasingly vague. He’s dropped a few hints of his thought process while talking to his apprentice, Shin Hati, but he’s been hesitant to otherwise divulge his true intentions. He speaks of wishing to end the ceaseless struggle between light and dark, but doesn’t give much information as to how he actually plans to accomplish this. Nevertheless, it’s clear Baylan’s experience in Order 66 was what originally drove him to the path he’s on. And though he’s made it quite clear neither him nor Shin are Jedi, he may not have abandoned the Order just yet.
