Ahsoka episode 7 featured the first live-action reference to Asajj Ventress, a major character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in 20 years. The Clone Wars have always fascinated Star Wars viewers, ever since they were mentioned by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the first movie. George Lucas chose to revisit them in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, but he only told the beginning and end of that story.
It initially fell to Genndy Tartakovsky to explore the Clone Wars in an animated TV show, and he reveled in the opportunity to tell some spectacular Jedi-centric adventures and introduce a wealth of new characters and concepts. These were essentially erased from canon when Lucas himself decided to tell the full story of the Clone Wars alongside the man who became his own apprentice, Dave Filoni. But the two still honored Tartakovsky's verson, incorporating characters and events into their own narrative. After 20 years, one of these characters has finally received her first live-action reference.

Asajj Ventress Is Name-Dropped In Ahsoka Episode 7 Ahsoka episode 7 opens with a training scene, one in which Ahsoka Tano practices her lightsaber forms ahead of an anticipated rematch with Baylan Skoll. She returns to her roots, using a training holovid recorded by her master Anakin Skywalker when he first taught her Djem So, a form that's particularly effective against other lightsaber-users. During the training session, which was presumably recorded early on in the Clone Wars, Anakin explains that he believes she'll likely have to face other duelists: Count Dooku, General Grievous, and perhaps even Asajj Ventress.
