Although Star Wars dropped the coolest version of Rey's lightsaber from the original script for The Rise of Skywalker, there's a chance it could still return. The majority of the sequel trilogy features Daisy Ridley's Rey wielding the blue-bladed Skywalker saber that once belonged to Luke and his father Anakin before him. However, Rey's decision to become a Skywalker coincided with a brand-new yellow-bladed lightsaber, constructed from her staff when she was a scavenger on Jakku. However, the original design for Rey's new lightsaber was far more exciting.
Initially, Rise of Skywalker would have been titled Duel of the Fates with a script from Derek Connolly and director Colin Trevorrow. This was before Lucasfilm's decision to bring back The Force Awakens' director J.J Abrams with a brand-new script. That said, the script for Duel of the Fates and concept art have since been released online, confirming that Rey would have had quite an impressive lightsaber in the culminating chapter of the Skywalker saga.
