The Nightsisters of the Star Wars franchise use a variety of Force powers throughout the canon and Legends continuities. Nightsisters are one of the franchise’s many Force-using traditions other than Jedi and Sith, and while they may not be as powerful as their more iconic counterparts, Nightsisters are nevertheless astoundingly skilled with the Force. In both continuities, Nightsisters are one of the many Witches of Dathomir, with their powers and culture centering exclusively on the dark side of the Force.
Nightsisters, like all Witches of Dathomir, debuted in Dave Wolverton’s The Courtship of Princess Leia, establishing them as Dathomir’s dark side-corrupted tradition, differentiating them from the other Witch clans, who live by the motto of “never concede to evil.” Nightsisters were reimagined for the canon continuity, debuting in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and playing major roles in Star Wars Rebels and Ahsoka, with the latter exploring their new origins. In canon, Nightsisters did not originate on Dathomir, but rather the intergalactic world of Peridea, further explaining why their corrupted magick abilities are different from those of a Sith Lord.

In addition to sensing and enhancing their athletic abilities, Nightsisters also use their dark powers for telekinesis, with the most astounding and lethal example being in Courtship of Princess Leia. Gethzerion, the founder and leader of the Nightsisters, used a lethal telekinetic attack to simultaneously murder the Imperial General Melvar and 100 Stormtroopers with ease.
14 Transformation While Dathomir and its Witch clans debuted in 1994’s Courtship of Princess Leia, the first live-action Nightsister appeared in 1985’s Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, thanks to a retcon. The Nightsister Charal’s signature power is transforming into a raven, though her ability requires a dark side-imbued artifact: one of the Talismans of Transformation. This proves to be her undoing, as the Talisman is destroyed by the end of the film while she is in raven form, preventing her from returning to her human form.
13 Weather Control One potent variation of telekinesis is controlling the weather. While the power is used defensively by many Jedi, the Nightsisters use a more lethal, dark side-fueled variant. Both Charal and Gethzerion are practitioners of this ability, with the latter creating a storm in a moment of rage in Courtship of Princess Leia.
