The Ahsoka series on Disney+ is already gearing up to be one of the most anticipated Star Wars shows yet. When Ahsoka Tano was first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008), much of the audience was furious at her for supposedly ruining Anakin’s timeline. But throughout The Clone Wars, Dave Filoni slowly crafted her into one of the most well-rounded characters Star Wars has to offer. By the end of The Clone Wars, Ahsoka completes her journey as a Jedi and walks away from the Order before its destroyed. She then gains new purpose in Star Wars Rebels fighting alongside Ezra Bridger and the crew of the Ghost before her world is again shattered, coming face-to-face with Darth Vader.
Filoni is moving on from animation to tell the first live-action story in Ahsoka’s timeline. The Ahsoka series picks off where Star Wars Rebels ended as Ahsoka continues to search for Ezra Bridger, and with him, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Having been stuck in the Unknown Regions of the galaxy for several years, Thrawn has missed the fall of the Empire, but now he seeks to wreak havoc on the galaxy once more. With the imperial Shadow Council at his command and resources to spare, Thrawn’s return bodes ill for the New Republic’s newfound peace, while also setting up several things audiences are excited to see in the Ahsoka series.
