At Star Wars Celebration 2023, Lucasfilm announced an exciting new Star Wars movie set during the Dawn of the Jedi era. While the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase panel mentioned that this movie would be the furthest back Star Wars has ever gone on-screen, a new book reveals the exact date the movie will take place. Not much is known about the Dawn of the Jedi era in canon, other than what was revealed in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The first Jedi, known as the Prime Jedi, is depicted as the original founder of the first Jedi Temple on Ahch-To, and the Dawn of the Jedi movie will follow their journey.
Not only will the Dawn of the Jedi era movie show the Prime Jedi founding and creating the Jedi ideals that carry on for millennia, but it will explore the discovery of the Force itself. One of the biggest challenges posed by going so far back in the galaxy comes with tying it back to what fans know about Star Wars. Most people are familiar with the characters and technology of the Skywalker saga time period, which takes place between 32 BBY and 35 ABY. But because the Dawn of the Jedi era takes place long before then, everything will feel entirely different from what has been done in Star Wars before.
