Star Wars recently confirmed the existence of a new superweapon in the established canon, though it seems to predate the Sith Lords. Although superweapons like the Death Star and Starkiller Base are often associated with Emperor Palpatine and the Sith, one such dark creation was introduced in the Unknown Regions of space, having been built thousands of years before the events of the Skywalker saga. However, new details suggest the Sith did not build the ancient Starflash superweapon as previously assumed.
Lucasfilm Publishing has just released Star Wars: Timelines, a new book from Kristin Baver, Jason Fry, Cole Horton, Amy Richau, and Clayton Sandell. Now, fans have a fairly comprehensive reference guide for the continuity, including the distant past such as the Star Wars galaxy's First Jedi who began their Order 25,000 years before the events of the Skywalker Saga. In that same vein, Star Wars Timelines confirms the Starflash superweapon was discovered by the Chiss around the same time as the Sith who'd only just begun splintering off from the Jedi as dark side wielders. As such, a new mystery has been created regarding who actually built the Starflash superweapon.
