An incredible Rey cosplay celebrates Star Wars’ new Jedi Master. Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ marketing campaign teased many mystery boxes, including which of the new main characters would be the sequel trilogy’s Jedi. Rey, who in The Force Awakens trailers was described as being “no one,” ended up being the key to taking down the Sith once and for all. Despite defeating Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Rey’s Star Wars story is not over.
During Star Wars: The Last Jedi's three-year anniversary, cosplayer Alιѕα Vαleevα (@alicenevermind) reshared a Rey cosplay picture crafted ahead of the film's release, inspired by Rey’s look from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The cosplay sees Rey meditating while wielding a blue lightsaber, imagining one of Rey’s Jedi training sessions. Interestingly, apart from Luke’s lessons in The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’s brief training montage, Star Wars did not show much of Rey’s Jedi training. The post also features two behind-the-scenes looks at the cosplayer’s Star Wars photoshoot.
The Star Wars Sequels Were Just The Beginning For Rey’s Jedi Story Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey in the still-untitled "New Jedi Order" movie. While not much is known about Rey’s new Star Wars film, the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy movie will see Rey building a new Jedi Order 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker. By the end of the Star Wars sequels, Rey Skywalker was the last known Jedi in the galaxy. Rey will now have to use Luke’s lessons, the sacred Jedi texts, and her time training with Leia to rebuild the Jedi Order.
Rey’s New Jedi Order movie allows Star Wars to do something the Skywalker saga never did – continue a character’s story right after their trilogy is over. After Return of the Jedi, Mark Hamill would only reprise his role as Luke Skywalker 32 years later in The Force Awakens. Likewise, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith remained Hayden Christensen’s final Anakin Skywalker appearance for 17 years, as the actor would only return as Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
