When Ahsoka Tano was first introduced to the Star Wars galaxy in 2008 in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars feature film, audiences hated her for supposedly breaking Anakin Skywalker’s timeline. Yet Ahsoka has slowly but surely been weaving herself throughout the timeline of Star Wars—as well as viewers’ hearts—ever since. With Ahsoka, Dave Filoni not only proved he could salvage a hated Star Wars character, but also demonstrated how animation is not merely for children's stories. Ashley Eckstein’s voice performance as Ahsoka ended up elevating her character into live-action through Rosario Dawson’s performance, with her own series releasing in August.
Since Ahsoka is set around 12 ABY, it’s crucial to look back on the character’s history and know what events have shaped her up to this point. Filoni has written Ahsoka’s character from the beginning, and he will almost certainly build upon or even flash back to crucial moments of hers from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Many have already taken to calling the Ahsoka series "Rebels season 5," as it directly continues Ahsoka’s hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger. The live-action Ahsoka series will be the culmination of all of Ahsoka’s animated experiences thus far.
