Disney is developing a handful of Star Wars movies, and one of them is rumored to continue the mainline saga with Star Wars 10. While Lucasfilm has been releasing plenty of Star Wars content on Disney+ including The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor, there hasn’t been a theatrically released movie since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. Star Wars movies have been on hiatus due to the mixed reception to the sequel trilogy and the commercial underperformance of Solo: A Star Wars Story, but they’re due for a comeback, and a number of projects have been announced for a potential theatrical release.
Rumor has it that the next Star Wars movie that Disney will release after the current hiatus will be Star Wars 10, a.k.a. Episode X, adding a new chapter to the primary saga. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the next Star Wars movie will be a direct sequel to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Since that ninth episode closed the book on the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars 10 could kick off a whole new era. Star War 10 might even jump decades into the future for a new trilogy exploring new characters and conflicts in a galaxy far, far away.
