The Jedi mind tricks are not that far away from the techniques that the Sith and other Star Wars villains use. More than four decades after the original Star Wars, the franchise continues to reveal new powers and abilities that the Force can grant a Force-sensitive warrior. That said, one of the Jedi’s most powerful and useful abilities traces back to A New Hope’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, although it has since been expanded and reimagined.
“These are not the droids you are looking for,” an iconic Star Wars line, established that powerful Jedi like Obi-Wan Kenobi could use the Force to essentially mind control their enemies. From then on, the Jedi mind trick became a useful Star Wars plot device, as it allowed any Jedi character to infiltrate a location or escape from a situation. The Star Wars canon, however, shows that Force mind powers are extremely dangerous.
