One of the strongest things about the Star Wars universe is that characters can be recycled and used in other shows and movies in the franchise, and none have made more appearances in new titles than those from the original trilogy. Many characters have returned in their own shows or movies, like Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story or Princess Leia in Star Wars Rebels. However, in terms of the Star Wars timeline, the number of characters returning after the events of the original trilogy have concluded is far less.
While some characters like Cassian Andor have received their own spin-off shows on Disney+, original trilogy characters aren’t getting the same treatment. A big reason this is happening is because of when the original trilogy was filmed. Actors have aged over 40 years since kicking of the franchise in 1977, requiring CGI and deepfakes to incorporate them in new projects. But the magic is still there, and when the original trilogy characters return, it’s much more meaningful, if not necessarily impactful to the stories being told.
