Star Wars has already begun to market Rey with the New Jedi Order logo. The sequel trilogy has often been criticized for a lack of planning, but Lucasfilm always knew how the story would end for Daisy Ridley's Rey. The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker describes a meeting of the Lucasfilm Story Group that took place in May 2014. "I like the idea that she's going to be our Skywalker," Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo observed, "but she's not a Skywalker. Then, for our purposes, 'the Skywalker' is really a metaphor. It doesn't have to be something that's directly connected to blood."
