Hyperspace rings like this haven't been seen since the era of the Jedi starfighters, and it's no doubt been foreshadowing Thrawn's return with the Chimaera ever since it was first shown. The Eye of Sion's design is perfectly constructed to fit the Imperial Star Destroyer, and aside from needing powerful engines to make the intergalactic jump, there would have been no other reason to create something so massive. Thrawn is also loading up the Chimaera with crates from the Nightsister catacombs on Peridea, which confirms that he plans on taking the ship with him when he heads back to the Star Wars galaxy.
